Hawker’s Experience

The exhilarating experience of flying a bird of prey is unimaginable. There’s nothing quite like holding a hawk on your glove, staring directly into its eyes and then setting it free. Watch it soar, swoop, dive and manoeuvre like an aerial acrobat before it returns to land on your glove.

This amazing experience has taken years to carve and perfect. It allows our guests to work and fly a trained bird of prey. Learn to understand these birds as you spend an hour free flying them at one of our Sydney locations.

The Hawker’s Experience allows non-releasable birds the chance to experience wild flight again and again. But this time, with the caring watchful eye of the bird’s handler and someone new.

Where is Feathered Friends?

Feathered Friends is located on a private parkland in Western Sydney. Once your booking has been processed the exact address will be emailed to you.

Are Hawker's Experiences and Meet & Greets available for all ages?

Yes, Feathered Friends caters for children and adults. Alterations to the Experience may apply to young kids.

How long is the Hawker's Experience?

One to two hours.

What is involved in the Hawker's Experiences?

During the Feathered Friends Hawker’s Experience you will arrive at a private field where the handlers will teach you how to work, bond and handle the bird you have selected. Once you have been trained, you and your bird will spend quality time understanding each other as you learn the gift of free flight. Ultimately you work as a team free flying amongst our open rural grasslands. This is an extremely intimate free flight bird experience that leaves guest connected to these remarkable creatures.

What happens during bad weather?

Your experience will automatically be rescheduled. You will be notified by email or automated text directly to your phone.

What is included in a Meet & Greet?

You can add a Meet & Greet to your Hawker’s Experience booking and save $200 off the full price. You will be treated to an up close, personal introduction to an Eagle or Raptor. Free flight of these birds is not included.

How does your Experience help conservation?

The Sanctuary is not government funded and relies on funds from bookings such as this to care for rescued birds and the birds living at the Sanctuary.
